1. I've been trying to figure out when we should have the New Year's party.
2. Everybody can just go home after the party.
Dialogue 对话:
Lucy: I am a little nervous about the party because I am not familiar with most colleagues.
Mary: Don't worry. You are a new member, so you need to know more colleagues. I think it's going to be a nice party.
Lucy: Can I take a friend to the party with me?
Mary: No, you can't. It's a poor etiquette to take someone with you.
Lucy: I don't want to stay long at the party. Can I leave earlier?
Mary: That's not going to work either. This is a seated dinner party, so you have to stay the whole time.
Lucy: Can I leave after the dinner?
Mary: You must stay until our host, the boss, stands to say that dinner is over. It's a good manner for you to thank the host and tell him good-bye before you leave.
