Alibaba Pictures has announced it's investing in two news films: 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' and 'Star Trek Beyond' being made by U.S.-based Paramount Pictures.
阿里巴巴影业集团宣布将要投资两部新电影:派拉蒙电影公司的《忍者神龟2》与《星际迷航:超越边界》。
In addition to Alibaba Pictures, other affiliates of the Alibaba Group are set to provide add-ons for the two projects such as APPs for the movies and other value-added platforms.
The films are due to hit theatres this summer in North America, and come to China in the second half of the year.
This would be the second cooperation between the two giants over Hollywood blockbusters, since Alibaba invested in 'Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation' six months ago.
Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures, said the Chinese internet company brings expertise in distributing films and developing spin-off products.
Alibaba's president Jack Ma said he was pursing internationalization as a means of developing the company's movie arm.
