China's top observatory on Monday renewed an alert for approaching super typhoon Dujuan, which will bring gales and rainstorms to southeastern regions in the next few days.
中国气象局周一重新发布警告,台风杜鹃即将登陆,将会给东南部地区带来强风与暴雨。
Dujuan, the 21st typhoon of the year, will land in Taiwan Monday afternoon and the coastal province of Fujian Tuesday morning, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement.
The typhoon will bring gales and storms to some parts of Taiwan, Fujian and neighboring Zhejiang province in the next two days, prompting the NMC to renew an orange alert for the typhoon.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
The NMC advised local authorities to take precautions against the typhoon and prepare for possible floods and geological disasters. Residents in affected regions should alter their travel schedules based on latest forecasts.
After landing in Fujian, the super typhoon will weaken rapidly and be downgraded to a tropical depression after reaching Jiangxi Province Tuesday night, the center said.
