As one of the most important tournaments that are held in Beijing this year, 2006 China Open has attracted a lot of attention all over the world.
As we know, ATP Men's Singles, ATP Men's Doubles, SE WTA Women's Singles, SE WTA Women's Doubles and ITF made up the entire game, and the total bonus reaches as high as 1.085 million US dollars. Such an important tournament drags lots of super stars' attention from all over the world, including Mauresmo, Baghdatis, Srichaphan and so on.
The competition was full of excitement even from the very beginning. All players tried their best to fight for the cup. On sep.17th the men’s single final was held between Baghdatis and Ancic. After a excellent play, Baghdatis finally won the champion.
The Chinese players also did well in the tournament. China's wild card entry Sun Tiantian recovered from wobble. Out of expectation of everybody, she beat Russia's Vera Zvonareva on Monday with score of 2 to 1. China's third best player Peng Shuai also beat Colombia's Catalina Castano to get into the second round. She will fight with the winner between Russia's defending champion Maria Kirilenko and eighth seed Gisela Dulko from Argentina.
China Open Tournament not only attracted many top players, but also lit the interest in Tennis among the public. While we are willing to watch more excellent performance from players, we also expect a great Olympics in Beijing 2008.
