President Obama has flown to South Korea at the end of a state visit to China in which both sides praised their deepening ties. But analysts said that neither had shifted their position. From Beijing, Quentin Sommerville reports.
Before President Obama left Beijing for Seoul, he said that he hoped that the US and China were moving beyond a relationship based on just trade and economics. He may be right. With President Hu, he discussed climate change, the economic crisis, and nuclear weapons. But neither country shifted position much. China still believes America is too protectionist, ; the US says China is harming the global recovery by keeping its currency artificially low. And in America, the democracy is still appalled by authoritarian China's China’s human rights record. China again told America to mind its own business.
