Luc Gnacadja is the executive secretary of the U.N. Convention to Combat Desertification——the UNCCD. He was among those attending a meeting in the southwestern Algerian town of Tinerkouk to mark the Decade for Deserts and the fight against desertification.
联合国防治荒漠化公约执行秘书吕克.尼亚卡贾也参加了在阿尔及利亚西南部提奈尔库克镇举行的会议。这次会议标志着土地沙漠化和防止荒漠化战争已达十年。
Speaking from Tinerkouk – a desert area – Gnacadja said natural desert ecosystems are valuable and must be conserved – but man-made deserts must be avoided. He warned that land degradation – also known a desertification – is a global problem.
从提奈尔库克开始说起，这是一个沙漠区，尼亚卡贾说天然沙漠生态系统是很有价值的必须好好保存，但是应避免人造的沙漠。他强调土地退化也就是荒漠化是一个全球的问题。
