Cellulite(n.脂肪团) is a condition that plagues(v.困扰,折磨) women of many sizes. You do not have to be overweight to have cellulite. Cellulite is most commonly present on the thighs, buttocks(n.臀部), and pelvic regions, giving the skin a cottage cheese like appearance. The causes of cellulite and the conditions contributing to cellulite are numerous. Genetics do play a role. And though we have no control over genetics, there are other contributing factors that cause cellulite you can control.
Your diet can exacerbate(v.恶化) the appearance of cellulite. Eating foods loaded with fat, salt, andcarbohydrates(n.碳水化合物,糖类) affects the amount of cellulite. Cellulite occurs when fat cells grow larger and push upwards towards the surface of the skin. Avoiding foods that will increase the size of the fat cells will diminish(v.减少) the appearance of cellulite through the skin. Increased consumption of protein builds muscle which burns fat. Fiber will also help regulate the appearance of cellulite. Drinking plenty of water will keep the skin hydrated and plump, hiding cellulite stores.
Lifestyle is another main factor in the development and appearance of cellulite. Sedentary(adj.久坐的) lifestyles will promote the presence of cellulite. The more active you are, the less fat stores you will build. Exercise is a primary weapon against cellulite. Exercise burns fat and keeps your fat cells from growing larger. High levels of stress increase the production of certain hormones that will add to the cellulite. A lifestyle high in stress or plagued by chronic (adj.慢性的)stress will cause cellulite to increase.
