ABAT falling upon the ground was caught by a Weasel（黄鼠狼）, ofwhom he earnestly sought his life. The Weasel refused, saying, that he was bynature the enemy of all birds. The Bat assured him that he was not a bird, buta mouse, and thus saved his life. Shortly afterwards the Bat again fell on theground, and was caught by another Weasel, whom he likewise entreated not to eathim. The Weasel said that he had a special hostility（敌意）tomice. The Bat assured him that he was not a mouse, but a bat; and thus a secondtime escaped.

蝙蝠跌落在地上，被黄鼠狼捉住，只得恳求饶命。黄鼠狼不答应，说他天生就是一切鸟类的仇敌。蝙蝠向他强调，说自己不是鸟，而是老鼠，这才免于一死。过了不久，蝙蝠又跌落在地上，被另一只黄鼠狼捉住，便同样恳求对方别把自己吃掉。那黄鼠狼说，他特别恨老鼠。于是蝙蝠向他强调，说自己不是老鼠，而是蝙蝠；从而第二次死里逃生。
