Colombia's inflexible beauty pageant rules claimed yet another victim after the newly crowned national queen resigned amid a scandal about her marital status, officials said on last month.

　　Karol de la Torre, who won the Miss Colombia contest on Aug. 12, stepped down on Wednesday after a whirlwind of controversy over her alleged marriage. De la Torre has insisted she has always been single, but local media reports said she had been married in the past to a basketball player and lied about it to judges.

　　It is a violation of pageant rules to be married or ever to have been married.

哥伦比亚小姐已婚“下课”

　　上个月，今年8月12日刚刚在选美活动中获得哥伦比亚小姐冠军的卡罗尔·迪·拉·托尔，因为一项关于她婚姻状态的丑闻而被迫脱下后冠。

　　卡罗尔·迪·拉·托尔一直说自己从未结过婚，但却有当地媒体报道说她向评委隐瞒了曾经与一名篮球运动员结为夫妇的事实。

　　根据哥伦比亚选美活动规则，已婚或曾经结婚的女子参选都属违规。
