　　Yesterday由保罗·麦卡特尼（Paul McCartney）谱曲、作词，最早在披头士乐队 1965的专辑《Help》中出现。很多人认为词的作者是约翰·列农，其实从创作到录制，《Yesterday》都由保罗一个人完成，在当时引起一些关于他单飞的流言。

　　这首歌注明作词者为“列农·麦卡特尼”（2人姓氏组成），很多人看到前面的“列农”就以为是约翰列农做的词。歌曲一经发行，就引起了强烈的反响，优美的旋律，隽永的歌词，刻划出每个人心灵深处那失落在时间中的影子。不论文化背景、社会地位、审美取向，甚至是否爱好音乐，几乎人人都会被这首歌打动，它真正做到了雅俗共赏。曾有人统计过，至今它的翻唱版本已超过了2500多种，创历史之最,到1995年，此歌出版30年来，已经被改编、翻唱、演奏过500多万次，维也纳爱乐乐团也改编演奏过这首歌。

　　Yesterday是20世纪被改编、演奏、播放最多的一支乐曲。在《滚石》杂志评选的“500有史最伟大的歌曲”中,Yesterday名列第十三。
