big“大的，巨大的”，常指程度，范围，规模，容积，重量，数量等（还可表示“伟大，重要”之意）常可与large互换，多用于具体的、有形的人或物（其反义词多为little/small。）如：This is a big cock. 这是只大公鸡。Jim's cake is the biggest of all. 吉姆的蛋糕是所有蛋糕中最大的。There is a big tree beside the house. 房子旁边有一棵大树。
large“大的，巨大的”，常指面积，范围，可表示数和量（当它直接用于人时，可表示身体的大），其反义词为small。如：They say China is a large and beautiful country. 他们说中国是一个面积大而美丽的国家。We have a large farm. 我们有一个大农场。I like the colour, but it\'s too large。我喜欢这种颜色，但是它太大了。
值得注意的是，big还可以作“长大了”解
Big, Large 和 Great 均可用来表达尺寸，它们都可以用在可数名词前，但只有great能用在不可数名词前。
Big 在口语对话中用得比较多，Large 就比较正式 ，great用在故事里表示由于它的尺寸给人留下的印象。
Large, Great 都可以用来表示数量，但big 不能用来表示数量
eg. She made a large amount of money
当你表示一种感觉和反应时，一般用great.
eg. I have a great hope for the future.
当你谈论危险时，多用big 或 great
eg. The biggest challenge I am facing is unemployment.
当你表达一个人或地方很有名气时，多用great来表示。
eg. the great cities in China
如果great 和big 在一起用时，great总是放在big的前面。
