Ding Junhui is facing a fine by snooker authorities for using obscene language at a press conference during the Snooker UK Championship.

Ding swore at the press conference following his unexpected 6-2 defeat by British amateur Adam Duffy in the opening round.

The two-time winner blamed venue conditions which had four tables set up in the competition halls for his early exit.

Ding's conduct has been referred to the disciplinary arm of the world's snooker and billiards governing body and a decision is pending.

Some mixed results for Chinese players,

There were wins for Yu Delu and Liang Wenbo in the first round,

Lv Chenwei is out with a 6-0 loss to Peter Ebdon.

No surprises for other big names,

Shawn Murphy, John Higgins and Ken Doherty all safely progressed.
