BBC News with Jerry Smit. Top level talks between the United States and Russia to try to ease the crisis over Ukraine have ended in stalemate. After hours of discussions in London, the Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, said there had been no common vision with his US counterpart John Kerry. Speaking through an interpreter, Mr. Lavrov said a referendum on Sunday in Crimea on whether to join Russia should go ahead on schedule.
