except 意为:"除...之外"
besides 意为:"除...之外还有"

all of us failed besides Tom(Tom failed,too)除了汤姆,我们也都失败了.
all of us failed except Tom(Tom didn't fail)除了汤姆外,我们都失败了(汤姆没失败)

unless是"除非..."和except, besides不构成比较关系啊
