President Obama told the students the rising cost of college is slowing efforts to strengthen America’s economic future.
奥巴马总统告诉学生大学成本上升会不利于对美国未来经济的发展所做的努力。
"Since most of you were born, tuition and fees have more than doubled. That forces students like you to take out more loans and rack up more debt."

The president said Friday that his administration has helped to make higher education more affordable by giving more federal money to students who need it. But he said rising tuition costs at the nation’s universities makes the program more difficult for even the government to afford.
总统周五说他的政府已通过给予有需要的学生更多的联邦资金来帮助使高等教育变得更加可行，但是他说国家大学学费开销的上涨使这个项目变得步履维艰，即使政府的资助也是杯水车薪。

We just can't keep on subsidying the skyrocketying tuitions. Tuition is going up faster than inflation, faster even than the health care is going on. No matter how much we subsidize, sooner or later, we will run out of money.
